Block & Prescreen Spam Using OlympusNet Webmail

Consider pre-screening your email using Webmail before opening your email application/program before the day’s biggest download of email. Keep the email application/program shut down after the end of the day until the screening is done at the next check.

Marking email as Spam in Webmail communicates to the system to re-evaluate the spam rules. Gradually, if done regularly for a period of time, the filtering improves. Pre-screening also keeps the spam off your devices, leaving only the email you want to download.

  1. Log in to Webmail with your email address and password.
  2. Once logged in, go to Inbox. Put a check into each box of the emails you do not want, then click the Spam icon in the horizontal gray ribbon at the top toward the right. The selected emails will go to the Spam folder.

To keep more Spam out of the inbox, consider elevating the Spam threshold. Raising the threshold may cause some legitimate emails to go to the Spam folder, so checking the Spam folder in Webmail for legitimate email is advised for a period of time.

  1. After logging in to Webmail, click Settings in the black ribbon on the left.
  2. Click on Spam Settings in the options.
  3. Beside Threshold Level, select the next option stronger than the current setting. After several days checking Webmail, if the change hasn’t caught too much legitmate email in Spam, but also hasn’t kept out much Spam from the Inbox, try the strongest level and continue to check the Spam folder for a period of time.
  4. Click Mail in the vertical black ribbon on the left to get back to your Inbox after changing the threshold.
  5. To move legitimate email from the Spam folder to Inbox, check the checkbox beside the legitimate email in the Spam folder and select from the gray ribbon across the top-right More > Move to… > Inbox. Right-click on the email also reveals the More > Move to… > Inbox option.
