Start by testing your phone line

Prior to order and installation, phone lines must be tested for quality and distance from Qwest's DSL equipment. Call OlympusNet customer service at 385-0464 or 800-896-1751, option #2, to request that your phone line be tested.

Why use OlympusNet?

All OlympusNet DSL accounts include:
  • OlympusNetMail with 2 mailboxes
  • Email spam filtering and spam control with Power Filter, delete period, spam level, Prefix Alias
  • Email virus scrubbing for inbound and outbound mail (OlympusNet's virus scrubbing is a first-level defense and may not block all viruses)
  • Free storage of personal Web site
  • Autoresponders
  • Fixed IP Address at no extra cost - helpful for telecommuter firewall access, and some financial services
  • Discounted cost for additional dialup account with nationwide access
  • OlympusNet's DSL equipment is housed in an earthquake resistant and secure site

Where is it available?

OlympusNet DSL is available in Marrowstone Island, Port Angeles, Port Hadlock, Port Ludlow, Port Townsend, Sequim, Shine, and other parts of Western Washington including Seattle.

Availability also depends on distance and phone line conditions. Customers currently need to be less than 3 miles from the Qwest Central Office or remote equipment. (Qwest is now installing long range DSL in some parts of Washington that will greatly expand DSL's coverage by going digital to the neighborhood, then copper to the house.)

How does it work?

OlympusNet DSL uses an existing phone line and allows simultaneous voice calls and Internet access. Exactly like Dialup, Qwest provides the connection and OlympusNet provides the Internet access with our own firewalls, servers, communications equipment and technical support.

What kind of modem do you need?

All DSL customers need to rent or purchase a DSL modem from Qwest for their computer. The rental and purchase prices tend to change. Please ask our support personnel for the latest costs. Qwest charges $9.99 or $14.99 (depending on the modem selected) for shipping and handling whether the modem is rented or purchased. Check out their promotions for modem rental discounts.

OlympusNet will get you up and running on one computer using a physical (wired Ethernet or wired USB) connection. For information about connecting more that one computer or wireless connections, please see "Can I have a Network?" below.

Qwest offers on-site DSL installation for a single computer as an option for a fee. contact Qwest for their current fees. Check out their promotions for installation discounts. You can save money by doing the installation yourself, with guaranteed installation support.

Qwest on-site professional installation for a single computer is included with Qwest DSL Pro accounts.

Can I have a Network?

Yes. The Actiontec DSL modem can support multiple computer connections. However, the current Actiontec GT 701 DSL Gateway provided by Qwest has only one Ethernet port and only one USB port for one computer. OlympusNet will assist you with an Ethernet cable connection for one computer. OlympusNet does not provide tech support for networking, wireless connectivity, or USB cable connections. If you will be setting up more than one computer to share your connection or if you want to set up a wireless connection, please contact a Networking Consultant for help with the network setup. You may also contact 2Wire's technical support for help with a wireless connection.

How much does it cost?

OlympusNet DSL accounts are priced by speed. The speeds are maximum and are not guaranteed by either OlympusNet or Qwest.
